Dr. Kabindra Prasad Kandel is a molecular biologist and Plant pathologist in the field of life sciences. Dr. Kandel is also specialized in bio-informatics, confocal microscopy, cell biology, etc. At present, Dr. Kandel is working at the Otsuka Chemicals located in Saitama in Japan.

Dr. Kandel has accomplished his BSc. in 2008, and MSc. in 2010, from the International Agriculture Department, at Tokyo University of Agriculture, Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Kandel was rewarded with his Ph.D. in 2014 from the College of Life Sciences, Department of Plant Sciences, at the University of Dundee, in collaboration with the James Hutton Institute, Scotland, and UK. Dr. Kandel’s BSc. research was focused in meristem culture of tropical yam plants, and his M.Sc. was focused in chemical components in media composition, necessary for the reliable plant meristem regeneration. Dr. Kandel’s M.Sc. research has also contributed in finding best acclimatization methods for In vitro yam meristem culture. Dr. Kandel worked as research fellow during his first year of his M.Sc. research at the world –renowned research institute; International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria. Dr. Kandel was invited as a guest lecturer at the University of Stirling, Scotland, UK, to give a guest lecture on Agriculture Tourism of Nepal for public reaction M.Sc. students. His Ph.D., was on Transcriptomic studies of the early stages of potato infection by Phytophthora infestans. Dr. Kandel has given several oral and posters presentations and attended many national and international conferences. Dr. Kandel is keenly interested to contribute and share his knowledge in agricultural sector in Nepal.
